Craig Angelos
Craig Angelos was introduced as UH’s 24th Athletics Director on May 18, 2023 and officially took over the post on June 5, 2023. Angelos comes to Manoa with nearly 30 years of senior leadership experience in intercollegiate athletics. Angelos has extensive experience overseeing student-athlete wellness and academic success, hiring head coaches, supervising men’s and women’s sports programs, fundraising, Title IX and NCAA compliance and developing facilities.
Craig has dedicated himself to intercollegiate athletics for nearly three decades at seven universities and at the NCAA. He served as the Director of Athletics at Florida Atlantic University for nine years. While at FAU, implemented a comprehensive $160 million facilities master plan highlighted by the construction of 2,400 dorm spaces, retail space, parking, and a new 30,000-seat on-campus football stadium. The Owls captured 15 conference titles and reached postseason competition 20 times under Angelos’ direction. Craig hired 10 head coaches while at FAU, including high-profile hires of men’s basketball coaches Matt Doherty and Mike Jarvis. Under Angelos, the FAU men’s basketball program saw revenues triple and attendance more than double in one season. He also served as the second-in-command at five different universities – Miami, Indiana, South Florida, Temple and Long Island.
He earned his J.D. in 1990 from Creighton and a B.A. in American Studies from BYU in 1987.
Craig is married to Kristin and has six children Alayna, Alexis, Abigail, Austin, Aaron, and Alivia.
