Bob Moosbrugger

Hired in May of 2016, Bob Moosbrugger is the 14th Director of Athletics at Bowling Green State University. A 1994 graduate of BGSU, Moosbrugger returned to Bowling Green following a tenure as the Deputy Director of Athletics / Chief Operating Officer at San Diego State University.

Moosbrugger currently serves on the NCAA baseball committee and has served on the CollegeInsider (CIT) basketball committee. In May of 2020, President Rodney Rogers announced a University-wide restructuring in which Moosbrugger became the Director of Athletics, Recreation and Wellness. In this expanded role, Moosbrugger continues to oversee athletics while also overseeing the Recreation and Wellness functions as well, which includes the student recreation center, Perry Field House, club sports, intramurals and wellness.

Prior to BGSU, Moosbrugger served at San Diego State in two stints, starting in March of 2000 as the assistant director for the Aztec Athletic Foundation. He was promoted to assistant athletic director/director of the Aztec Athletic Foundation in 2004. He was named the director of business development at the San Diego International Sports Council in February 2006 before returning to SDSU in September 2007 as the associate athletic director for development. In June 2015, he was promoted to Deputy AD/COO, in which he was the sport supervisor for football, men’s basketball and softball. He also supervised the athletics business office, development, events and facilities, and student-athlete academic services. During his tenure, Athletics raised over $78 million for the University’s first ever comprehensive fundraising campaign. He worked collaboratively to manage the athletics department’s $46 million annual athletics budget.

Prior to his time at San Diego State, Moosbrugger was as an assistant ticket manager and athletic ticket manager at Fresno State from 1996-2000. He was an intern/graduate assistant at Ball State from 1994-96.

A baseball player at BGSU, Moosbrugger earned the team’s Don Woods Award as the top freshman in 1991 and was a two-year letter winner. He is the fifth alumnus to serve as BGSU’s Director of Athletics. Moosbrugger is a native of Celina, Ohio.

He and his wife, Esther, have two sons, Andrew and Vincent.
