A longtime community leader, Allie Prescott was named interim athletic director by University President Dr. M. David Rudd on May 14, 2019. Prescott has been both president of Allie Prescott & Partners, LLC since 2002 and senior vice president of Waddell & Associates Inc. since 2007. An M Club Hall of Famer who was a three-year letterman in baseball from 1967-69, he was an All-Missouri Valley Conference first baseman in 1969.
He was president and general manager of the Memphis Redbirds from 1997-2001, being named Pacific Coast League Executive of the Year in 2000 while AutoZone Park was named the 2009 Minor League Ballpark of the Year by Baseball America. Prescott was vice president/general manager of the Memphis Chicks from 1979-82 where he was honored as Sporting News AA Executive of the Year in 1981.
Prescott graduated from then Memphis State University in 1969 as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, and received his J.D. from Memphis State University Law School in 1972.
Prescott was executive director of the City of Memphis Park Commission from 1984-88, vice president of the SPL Corporation from 1988-89 and executive director of MIFA from 1989-96. He has practiced law since 1972 and is a Rule 31 Civil Mediator, certified by the Tennessee Supreme Court. A well-respected college basketball official in the Southeastern Conference and Conference USA, he officiated in five NCAA Tournaments in 1985, 1986, 1989, 1990 and 1992.
