“Tulane Athletics has played a significant role in our family’s lives for nearly half a century,” Scott Slatten said. “Our family could not be more excited to support Tulane student-athletes through this endeavor, so that they can achieve their goals in competition and realize their championship aspirations.”

“The addition of the Slatten Family Strength Center will play a significant role to our student-athletes as they continue to raise the standard for Tulane University athletics,” Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. “Our entire athletics department will benefit from this project and we are tremendously thankful to the Slatten Family and many others for their commitment to Tulane Athletics.”

In addition, the facility will undergo numerous structural enhancements, which include a higher ceiling, a new floor, a new lighting system, new windows to allow more natural light, a reconfigured office space for the strength and conditioning coaches and staff as well as additional storage space.

In addition to the Slatten family’s lead gift, over 50 Green Wave Club donors contributed to the project, including Tulane alum and football letterwinner Elmer Smith, who also made a significant contribution to the department’s new state-of-the-art facility.
